Movie: "The Mistress"

Una pa lang na ipinakita sa publiko ang trailer ng pelikulang ito, sinabi ko na sa sarili ko na gusto ko itong panoorin. I was once a John Llyod - Bea fan. Okay kasi ang chemistry nila. Tv man o pelikula. They have proven their worth from their teleseryes to their movies. Hindi nila binigo ang mga manonood. Sila yung tambalang kahit iba ang makapareha, oks lang. Pero click sila. Until they made "One More Chance" na alam naman nating pumatok talaga sa takilya.

The Mistress. Kabit.

Naexcite ako bago ko panoorin ito. Hindi ko kasi alam ano ba ang ending. Katulad din kaya sya ng "No Other Woman" nila Anne Curtis, Christine Reyes at Derek Ramsey? Parang pareho kasi ng tema. Ang difference lang, 4-way angle ito. In short, complete angle. The Wife, The Benefactor, The Lover, and The Mistress.

Main Characters:

John Lloyd - JD
Bea Alonzo - Sari
Ronaldo Valdez - Rico
Hilda Coronel - wife of Rico

John Lloyd plays the role of JD Torres. His character is the "what JD wants, JD gets" type. Umpisa pa lang, mababasa mo na ang character nya. Dito din nagsimula ang linya ni Sari ( Bea Alonzo) na "Hindi dahil gusto mo, makukuha mo".

Maganda naman ang twist ng story. I'll cut the story short..

Si Rico ang Benefactor ni Sari. And the twist? JD is the stepson of Rico. Small world kumbaga. At doon na umikot ang istorya. JD doesn't want to give up Sari. Rico died. But Sari and JD never continued what they felt for each other.

Parang tama naman. It was not the usual ending. But I think that it was the right thing to do. Sa isang pelikula, minsan mahirap sabihin kung sino ba ang magaling. Artista? Writer? o Director? I think kailangan lahat magaling. Hindi tatakbo ang pelikula kung may isang sablay. John Lloyd and Bea gave justice to the movie. Here are some of the memorable lines. Kudos to the writer..

"Layuan mo ang asawa ko. Tagalog na yan para maintindihan mo."
"Ang daming dahilan para hindi kita mahalin. Pero may isang dahilan para 'di ko magawa yun. Mahal kita. Yun lang yun."
“Di dahil gusto mo, makukuha mo.”
"Alam mo kung ano ang kaya kong gawin na hindi kaya ng Mr. Thursday mo. Kaya kitang pakasalan. Sa akin, wala kang kahati."
"It's Thursday. It's the day of the week that hurts me... He is with her every Thursday, every fuckin' Thursday fuckin' her."
"Walang babaeng pinangarap maging kabit."
"Siguro sa kunwari nalang natin pwedeng mahalin ang isa't-isa."

One major line that I liked was:
"Now tell me you love me with the same breath that you care for another man"

The movie also touched the family side. Na touch ako when Rico and JD talked and forgave each other.

Hindi nga madali maging kerida. Bea played the role perfectly. Her role proved na hindi lahat ng kerida, pera lang ang habol. May nagmamahal din.

Hindi ibig sabihan na hindi ko nagustuhan ang ending, pangit ang pelikula. It was done in really good taste. Kudos to Star Cinema.
